Asset manager appoints RenewableUK Chairman to advise on UK business development

London, 18th May 2015 – Independent wind and solar asset manager, Greensolver, has announced the appointment of Julian Brown as a Member of the Board as the firm looks to develop its presence in the UK on- and offshore wind markets.

Starting this week, Julian will support Greensolver’s UK team in a non-executive role, helping to define the ongoing growth strategy and business plan. He will cooperate with the Paris-based Greensolver headquarters to regularly review and coordinate marketing and sales approaches, assist UK General Manager, Stephen Bolton, in identifying business opportunities and represent Greensolver to authorities and industry colleagues.

In taking up this role, Julian brings 15 years of European wind industry experience to the table and will help Greensolver deliver its industry-leading technical and commercial management services to an expanding UK client base.

A well-known and respected industry exponent, Julian is Chairman of the Board at trade association RenewableUK and formerly chaired Norstec, an industry-led initiative to promote North Sea offshore renewables. Prior to co-founding Aarufield, a specialist wind energy advisory, he headed up the UK wind energy arm of French manufacturer Areva, driving the development of the firm in the British offshore sector.

Previously, he held long-term positions at renewable energy consultancy BVG associates and Danish turbine manufacturer NEG Micon, now Vestas Wind Systems.

“In the fast maturing  UK wind energy sector, it’s never been more important to ensure that the interests of manufacturers, developers and investors are aligned when it comes to making the decisions that determine the long-term performance and success of a project,” said Julian Brown, newly appointed Member of the Board, Greensolver.

“That’s why we’ve seen so many project owners turn to the technical and commercial expertise of a third party in recent years to validate and assess these decisions. The role of independent asset managers in on- and offshore renewables is only going to grow as the industry matures, and it will be a great pleasure to help Greensolver build on its European successes in the UK market.”

“Julian’s commitment to, and experience in, this sector is more than evident”, added Guy Auger, Chief Executive, Greensolver. “His passion and drive will be invaluable as we help UK renewable energy developers and investors maximise the efficiency and performance of their portfolios.”

Greensolver has been active in the UK wind and solar markets since the opening of its London office in October 2014. In November, the firm announced the UK launch of Greensolver Index, an innovative operations benchmarking tool enabling independent asset owners to gauge portfolio performance against their peers.
